Vitamin E Oil And Fish Oil Benefits

Vitamin E oil and fish oil are two of the most widely taken oils, especially in supplement form. But what do they do and are they really important for good health?

Vitamin E oil

Many oils, including those extracted from canola, corn, wheat germ, safflower, soy and sunflower, are used individually or in combination to create vitamin E oil. Wheat germ oil is actually the best source of vitamin E, but its high price and rarity has led to sunflower oil being more commonly used. Vitamin E oil in its liquid form is usually applied to the skin to help treat a number of problems, including acne, scars, wrinkles, and cold sores. Capsules of vitamin E oil are taken as a supplementary form of the vitamin to prevent deficiency.

Many studies declare that vitamin E oil is best applied externally, for our bodies find it easier to absorb only the natural forms of the vitamin.

What foods are high in vitamin E?

Nuts, seeds and leafy green vegetables are all top natural sources, and eating them should be prioritized over taking vitamin E oil supplements. This is because vitamin E is absorbed only when fat is present, and unlike the natural food sources, the supplements rarely come supplied with healthy monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats to ensure the vitamin E is properly absorbed.

Fish oil

Like vitamin E, fish oil is also available in supplements, and it is also best taken from natural sources. Bluefish, herring, mackerel, tuna and salmon are just a few fishes that provide all the nutrients that fish oil is known for, especially the omega 3 fatty acids. Fish oil is widely used for treating and preventing problems of the cardiovascular system like hypertension and high cholesterol, mainly because omega 3 fats counteract the effects of unhealthy fats to help keep the blood pressure and cholesterol levels at a normal range.

People with neurological disorders like Alzheimer’s disease and psychosis will also benefit from taking fish oil regularly, while women often turn to it for help to ease problems like breast pain and cramps during menstruation. Fish oil may also be beneficial during pregnancy to prevent high blood pressure and the risk of miscarriage and premature birth.

Vitamin E oil and fish oil are both healthy products, but their benefits don’t compare to their natural sources. Take supplements if your doctor advises you to do so, but you will be healthier with eating fish, seafood, almonds, and leafy green vegetables regularly.
