3 Ways to Naturally Fight Diabetes

Diabetes medical poster design - © paradox - Fotolia.comIt is unfortunate that we live in a world that is so plagued with illness and disease, but that is the way it is, and since that is the way it is, I feel that it is that it is all that much more important that way are aware of these diseases and how to be battle them.  The disease I want to talk about briefly in this article is diabetes.  Diabetes is much more serious than most people realize.  It is claimed that diabetes affects over three hundred million people, including men, women, and even children, all over the world.  In the United States, we have what are called the big three killers which are heart disease, cancer, and, you guessed it, diabetes.  If you, your child, or someone you know has diabetes, then I’m sure that you understand that diabetics are concerned about their blood-sugar levels, and this is because their bodies, in one way or another, have an issue with either producing insulin or processing insulin.

Well, when it comes to maintaining the proper levels of blood sugar, there are a number of natural things that one can do, and here are a couple of those things:

Simply Get More Sleep

Who doesn’t want to get more sleep, right?  Well, researchers at the University of Buffalo in New York have found that test subjects who received at least seven hours of sleep had more stable blood sugar levels throughout the day than those who received less than six hours of sleep.

Put More Beans on Your Plate

Beans can really help you maintain those sought after blood-sugar levels.  The reason is that beans take longer than many other foods to digest, and since there is a direct relationship between the rate at which food digests in the body and the impact it has on your blood sugar levels, beans have less of an impact on your blood sugar levels than other foods.  Who would have thought, right?

Drop a Few Pounds

Now, I am not suggesting that you take on some extremely challenging diet plan and exercise routine.  Simply finding ways to exercise a little throughout the day can really make a difference.  Opting for the stairs over the elevator, going for a walk after dinner, and parking a little further from the store, can have more of an impact than you might think.  See, that’s not so bad, is it?
