Learning How to Manage Migraines with Jordin Sparks

The makers of Excedrin Migraine recently partnered with the multi-talented Jordin Sparks, to to raise awareness about managing migraines. Jordin and her mom are migraine sufferers so she knows first hand what it’s like to suffer from migraines.

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Excedrin Migraine Education campaign launch in NYC.   I was really interested in learning more about migraines because my mother and sister both suffer from migraines.  Mom used to get them a lot when I was younger.  She wasn’t a big fan of taking pills so her way of dealing with the migraines was to turn off the lights and go to sleep.  Z.E.N. also just recently started complaining of frequent headaches, so I was very interested to hear what they had to say.

At the launch, we first heard from neurologist Dr. Keri Peterson.  Dr. Peterson is also a migraine sufferer and talked about how hard she’s worked with her patients to help them to get relief from their migraines.  She is one of many neurologists around the globe who are now encouraging individuals to take Excedrin Migraine for headache relief.  It is the first non-prescription to be endorsed by The Food and Drug Administration for the purpose of treating migraine headache symptoms.  I’m happy to report that Excedrin is now back on the shelf at many stores after being removed form the shelves ten months ago as part of the voluntary recall.

Dr. Peterson then introduced Excedrin’s new app for migraine sufferers.  The free app, which is called My Migraine Triggers was created to  provide a way for migraine sufferers to discover the causes of their migraines. The app is already available for download at the iTunes store.

Next up, Jordin Sparks made an appearance and shared her own migraine story.  She stressed the importance of knowing your individual triggers so that you can prevent migraines.  Recent statistics collected by the creators of Excedrin Migraine reveal that ninety three percent of female migraine victims wish they had more knowledge about their migraine triggers. Jordin stated that using the app can really help to identify those triggers. Afterwards, she sang us a lovely song entitled “Have A Little Faith”, without any musical accompaniment.  I must say, she has a very lovely voice!

  • I had my first migraine this summer during my daughter’s birthday party of all times! We were at the my BIL’s yacht club and I ended up sleeping in the car the entire time. Someone gave me some Excedrin Migraine and that finally helped relieve me of the symptoms.

  • A lot of my family members have suffered from Migraines. It’s great to see that they are having management classes like this.

  • I’m a migraine sufferer & my only go to pill is Excedrin Migraine. So I was very upset when it was off the shelves! I had to take alternatives & I must say they didn’t work as effectively as Excedrin. I am going to check out the app. Thanks for sharing your experience. Can’t wait to hear more about your journey.

  • I have had migraines for most of my life. I charted and journaled and could NEVER figure out my triggers other than stress. Once I became a stay at home mom, I began getting chronic migraines. I had at LEAST two a week, but usually 3 or 4. They were debilitating and I was unable to be a good and present mom to my children. A chiropractor recommended I eliminate grains from my diet to rid myself of the migraines. I did and to this day (13 months later), I have had 4 migraines, each one after eating a combination of grains and sugar. Excedrin Migraine is the ONLY thing that helps when I have a migraine sneak up on me, but I’m SO glad that I don’t have to keep a hearty stock in my medicine cabinet anymore.
