Movie Night Essentials

This post is sponsored by Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

My son loves movies. We tend to go to the movies now and then, but over time, it really adds up, so movie nights are a regular thing in my house. One thing I love about movies nights is that they create opportunities for the family to bond and improve relationships. I actually prefer seeing movies in the comfort of my own home. It’s just so much cozier, and I don’t have to worry about things like somebody kicking the back of my seat. Since we have movie nights fairly often, I wanted to share the three things that are necessary to have a perfect movie night at home with the family. These are my movie night essentials.

Movie Night Essentials

The perfect movie

Deciding what to watch can be the most difficult part of movie night. In our house, we keep it simple. We take turns choosing the movie. This makes it fair for everyone. This time around it was my turn to choose the movie, and I chose Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. We had just attended a dinosaur theme birthday party the weekend prior, so the dinosaur theme was stuck in my head. Plus, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom just became available on Blu-ray, featuring more than an hour of bonus content. I’ve loved the Jurassic Park movie franchise since the first movie.

My son and mother-in-law didn’t seem convinced at first, but they warmed up to the idea.

They wound up actually enjoying the movie.

Movie Night Essentials - The perfect companions

I thought it was a great movie and became a big fan of actor Jeff Goldblum who plays Ian Malcolm. This new installment did not disappoint. It was action-packed, and the ending was phenomenal. I don’t want to give away too much, but the change of setting was interesting. The first half of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom took place on an island which was consistent with the previous movies in the franchise. However, there’s a twist that results in the final half of the movie being set in a mansion which in my opinion, made it more terrifying!

Unfortunately, I only saw Jeff Goldblum in two brief scenes, but these scenes are very important as what he says will really make you think about the ethics of playing around with nature.

The movie is now available on Blu-ray and DVD. You can order it here.

Tasty snacks

Our go-to movie night snack is popcorn. We skip the butter though and instead usually have it kettle corn style of just plain. We buy large bags of kettle corn popcorn, so we almost always have some in the house. We’ll also have other snacks like ice-cream and candy too!

The right people

Watching a great movie is one of the true great pleasures in life, but inconsiderate people can spoil everyone’s fun by talking, texting, and otherwise carrying on during the movie. Since we’re so much into movies, we know not to do these things. Some movies do elicit discussion, but I prefer to discuss things after the movie.

Be sure to get your own copy of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom! Now available on Blu-Ray and DVD.
