6 Easy Ways To Prepare Your Skin For Summer

Prepare Your Skin for Summer With These 6 Tips

Sponsored post by Mirum Shopper. All opinions are my own.

I love summer. It is my favorite season.  I hibernate during the winter, but once summer arrives, I am always out and about attending family functions and events. Because of this, I like to look my best and have shopped around for cute dresses and accessories. Regardless of the trend or the fad, skin is always your best accessory for the summer. So, it’s time to get ready for the summer. Prepare your skin for summer the right way with these tips.

Switch Up Your Soap.

To get your skin ready for summer, look for products that work well with skin during the hot months. Some soaps can suck the moisture out of your skin. Try using a soap made with natural oils such as sunflower oil or almond oil.  These ingredients are both nourishing and moisturizing and will help you to maintain a healthy glow.

Get Your Skin Cells Hydrated.
Sure, a good lotion will provide moisturizing protection but nothing beats the benefits that water brings. Water keeps skin cells hydrated and plump, helps prevent dehydration and curb hunger, and aids in flushing out toxins from the body. Water also helps replenish lost fluids when you sweat. So drink two or three glasses of water a day – more, if you sweat a lot.

Keep Skin Smooth.
Dead skin cells leave skin rough, dry and dull-looking. To regain that glow, exfoliate twice or thrice a week using a gentle scrub or soft-bristled brush. Be careful with exfoliation though. Never exfoliate when skin is wind-chapped, sunburned or has rashes to avoid complications.

Use Sunscreen.
Newly exfoliated skin should be protected. Therefore, you should apply sunscreen regularly, especially when staying outdoors. Look for a broad-spectrum product that will protect against both UVA and UVB rays. Use sunscreen with a minimum of 30 SPF for better protection. If playing outdoors, use a waterproof product and re-apply every two hours.

Protect Your Lips.
Do not forget your lips this summer. Keep them moisturized by wearing lip balm or a good moisturizing lipstick that has high SPF. Lips dry easily and the skin is delicate, so be gentle and make sure they are protected.

Spending hours at the beach or pool can strip your skin of moisture. After showering, pamper your skin with a rich, moisture-laden lotion. This will keep skin hydrated, provide protection, and prevent fine lines that develop from too much exposure to the elements. Try lotions enriched with hydrating ingredients such as Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Lotion. It contains 100% pure cocoa and shea butter – two ingredients known to treat dry, dull skin and heal itchy cracked skin. Vaseline Cocoa Radiant also contains Vaseline Jelly in micro-droplet form for more powerful hydration and healing effects.
