New Jersey is hopping with Labor Day weekend events. Here is a fun list of 7 Things to do on Labor Day Weekend in NJ.
South Plainfield 53rd Annual Labor Day Parade
The Public Celebrations Committee of South Plainfield is proud to present the annual Labor Day Parade. Since Z.E.N.’s school is in South Plainfield, they always have a float and invite all of the students and their families to take part in the parade. The theme for 2015 is “Celebrating our Heritage.” Come see one of the largest parades in New Jersey, and have fun listening to bagpipes, laughing at the clowns, and seeing the homemade floats drive down the route.
In addition to the parade, a 5K run and a fitness walk are on the calendar. Plan on ending the evening with a wonderful music and fireworks display.
Atlantic City “Ballet On The Boardwalk”
Come and enjoy a free ballet performance right on the boardwalk on Monday, September 7th. Performances are at 2pm and 5pm, but arriving a little early is recommended, as seats are first-come, first-serve. The Ballet on the Boardwalk performance will take place at Kennedy Plaza, in front of Boardwalk Hall.
AirFest 2015
AirFest will feature WWII aircraft: B-24 Liberator, B-17 Flying Fortress, P-51 Mustang, vendors, exhibitors, music, food, and much more! Planners enhanced the stellar performance from years past with several new additions for the 2015 show. The public will be given a once in a lifetime opportunity to view, explore and even take a flight in these historic treasures for an additional cost.
Admission is $14 for adults and $10 for children. This price also includes a bomber walk-through tour.
Annual Scandinavian Fest
Known as ScanFest, the Sunday, September 6th event in Vasa Park celebrates Scandinavia. Come and explore the six countries that are known as Scandinavia: Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Estonia.
Enjoy a variety of entertainment from years past, including a Viking pillage and plunder demonstration, and a wife-carry contest. While watching (or competing), enjoy an excellent array of culturally inspired food.
Jazz It Up Wine Festival
Did somebody say wine? Join the Garden State Wine Growers Association to celebrate great music and great wine at the Jazz It Up Wine Festival. Enjoy the festivities, and know that your admissions, donations and purchases are helping to fund the Historic Village at Allaire, a non-profit dedicated to teaching about life in New Jersey in the 1800s. A reenactment of early American living coincides with the festival, providing a family friendly setting.
Monmouth Park's BBQ & Craft Beer Festival
The annual BBQ & Craft Beer Festival is bigger than ever—lasting a full three days this year!
The BBQ selections feature juicy, tender meat that's been carefully prepared. Brisket, ribs and pulled pork are just a handful of the options awaiting festival-goers. There are also over 40 craft beers to choose from, at an excellent price of $10 for 10 two-ounce samples.
In addition to great meat and beer, live music is featured. A new Spicy Wing Eating Competition has been added to the activity lineups, so be sure and sign up near the bandstand.
Make plans now to attend these events over Labor Day weekend. Enjoy music, food and live entertainment—the best New Jersey has to offer!
