The Secret Life of Pets presents the answer to the question that all pet owners have wondered from time to time – what, exactly, do pets get up to all day? By combining an all-star voice cast, family-friendly comedy and a surprisingly emotional plot, The Secret Life of Pets manages to be fun for the whole family.

The film is centered around the life of Max, a dog who is totally devoted to his owner. When his owner brings home a stray, Max's life is turned upside down and he's forced to share his home for the first time. When Max and his new brother, Duke, are out of their home, though, the two go on an adventure that takes them not only throughout New York City, but that also forces the two to come to terms with their roles in one another's lives. From Central Park to the sewers of New York, the adventure keeps moving along at such a brisk pace that you'll have trouble believing when the film comes to an end.

A great deal of the film's charm comes not from the main story, but from the secondary characters. From the militant bunny rabbit to the elderly dog who's seen it all, the supporting characters are every bit as memorable as the main characters. While the film even features a romance, it's definitely a comedy at heart – and a comedy that's full of jokes that parents will enjoy just as much as the kids.

The movie is so much fun and we took some time out of our busy schedules to watch it. We had originally seen the movie when it was still in theaters. Z.E.N. wanted to go see it on his birthday and of course we complied.

Event though we already saw it, we were happy to watch it again. I made some popcorn and we settled down to watch the movie. It is such a fun movie. We really enjoyed it and laughed a lot! I’m sure we’ll be watching it again and again in the very near future.

The Secret Life of Pets is a perfect family movie night treat, especially now as it's out on Blu-Ray and DVD. The new release features nearly an hour of bonus content, including three hilarious mini-movies: the all-new Norman Television and Weenie PLUS Mower Minions which debuted in theaters and is now available to own. If you're looking for a good movie to watch with the family or a great piece of animation to watch on your own, this is one movie that simply can't be beat.
