Years ago, I won a trip for two to Aruba. I had never been there before and fell in love with the place. Even before the new slogan came about, I saw first hand that Aruba is one happy island that has plenty of stuff to do for residents and tourists alike. That is why I want to go back! The trip I won was only a weekend trip. Definitely not long enough to fully explore the island.
Hidden Gems and Beaches
There is a reason that the Beach Boys sang about Aruba in their song Kokomo. The beaches there are spectacular. While we enjoyed spending time at the beach at the resort, we ventured out and came across a local beach that we loved even more. At the local beach, there was loud music pumping, lots of local food being sold and we got to meet lots of local people. At both beaches, the water is a transparent turquoise color and the yellow sandy beaches make the perfect place for relaxing or even enjoying water activities. There are also many great land activities that you can enjoy in Aruba from ATV or motorcycle tours to horseback riding.
The Culinary Scene
While the native foods in Aruba are Caribbean influenced, you will be able to find just about any type of food you are craving. There are many small restaurants as well as fine dining restaurants that you can visit. This can help you to find the restaurants that will work within your budget as well as the type of food you enjoy. You will find though that the majority of the restaurants will offer Caribbean cuisine.
This is not a place you should overlook when looking for vacation destinations. There are so many great places you can visit and things you can do.
