As I was doing my research on these meal delivery services, I stumbled upon Blue Apron meal delivery service. I learned that Blue Apron provides all the ingredients you need to make your own meals in your own kitchen. This sounded very promising and I wanted to try it immediately! Blue Apron meal makes it possible to create a home-cooked meal without the big production typically required by traditional meal prep. With this type of service, you will get scrumptious food in a convenient manner.
How it Works
When you sign up, you choose a meal plan and decide which day to have the box delivered. You are also given a chance to set your dietary preferences. They then send you three recipes that match your preferences. The meals are shipped right to your doorstep in an insulated package that includes all the portioned ingredients and a recipe card for each meal. The only ingredient that you have to provide is salt, pepper, and oil, which to me is not a big deal because I always have them on hand.
One of the great features of this meal delivery service is that you will never have to deal with left over ingredients. You will not have to figure out how to use up the remaining mushrooms you purchased for a particular recipe because Blue Apron only sends what you need so there is no wastage of food.

Meals for Two
This is the plan I went with. With this plan, you receive meals at a cost of $59.99. This amounts to 6 servings at a cost of $9.99 for each serving.
Shipping is free with both plans.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Recipes are easy to follow and very detailed
- The food is very tasty. I was a little worried by the names of the meals I would be receiving, but I gave them a try anyway, and they were all very tasty. The meals I received were:
Seared Pork Chops & Fig Compote with Sautéed Kale & Farro Salad
Spicy Miso-Glazed Chicken Wings with Purple Rice & Zucchini Salad
Steakhouse Salmon with Thyme-Sautéed Potatoes, Green Beans & Mushrooms
Cons
- The ingredients are not separated by meals; they are all placed in the box together. This becomes a bit of an issue because different amounts of the same ingredients are often used in the recipes. Therefore, you have to be extra careful to make sure that the right portion is being used for the right meal.
- All of the ingredients are not organic.
- There are no nutrition facts on the recipe cards; only calorie information is included. The good thing though is that the meals are 500-800 calories per serving.
There is no denying the convenience of Blue Apron Meal Delivery Service. Living in a fast-paced world often limits the quality time that family members get to spend together. Blue Apron takes the extended prep time out of cooking and frees up additional time for the more important things in life. They do this by providing truly amazing meals with good recipe options.
