Celebrating 20 Years of the Teletubbies

Can you believe the Teletubbies have been around for 20 years? Boy, do I feel old!

Launched in 1997, the Teletubbies captured the hearts of people of all ages and became one of the most successful global children’s brands of all time. It was the first TV character brand specifically created with learning and development for children as young as 6 months in mind. The fact that they are still just as popular twenty years later, is a reason to celebrate.

The Teletubbies did just that! On Monday, March 27, all four Teletubbies — Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po visited some of New York’s best-known sights, including the Brooklyn Bridge, Flatiron Building, Times Square and Central Park. Although it was a gray, rainy day, the Teletubbies brought their own sunshine by giving their trademark Big Hugs, to one another and anyone else who wanted one.

I’m so happy that I got to tag along.  I loved seeing people’s eyes light up when they spotted the Teletubbies. Seeing people both old and young line up to take selfies with the Teletubbies was such an amazing thing to see.

After taking on Manhattan, the Teletubbies enjoyed a party the next day with lots of food, friends, and cake!

We even got to see an exclusive preview of the all-new Teletubbies series’ season 2. The new series features 60 brand new 12-minute episodes that are visually-enhanced, bringing a refreshed, colorful new look and feel to this beloved show.
