A few weeks ago we took a trip to Governors Island in New York City. Even though I was born and raised in New York City, this was my first visit to island. Governors Island used to be a military base. It was closed by the Coast Guard in 1996, and the Federal Government sold most of it to the people of New York in 2003. It was opened to the public in 2012. It’s a great recreational open space in a city know for being overcrowded.
I made sure to pack my Acer Iconia Tab 8 along for the trip. I actually used it to map out my trip. I also wanted to see how this intel tablet performed when it came to photography. Somehow I goofed when I was taking photos because they all came out with a filter of some sort. I was disappointed at first, but then I started playing around with the editing tools and realized there were a ton of filters available on the tablet. Check out how cool these photos came out!
When we arrived at Governors Island, we caught a show performed by the West Point Corps of Cadets Pipes & Drums.

This is the Achilles sculpture. It is an interactive life-size giraffe made out of plywood triangles that you can draw on with chalk. I love the HDR effect in this photo.
In this shot, you can see the Manhattan skyline and a good shot of 1 World Trade Center.
So even though I goofed, I am still pretty happy with the way I was able to use filters to salvage some of the photos using my Acer Iconia Tab 8. I wish all these filters were available on Instagram!
