If you are a fan of Japanese food and sushi, you will love visiting the local hibachi restaurant in the Pocono mountains. Desaki Japanese Restaurant promises to provide one of the most unique and entertaining dining experiences for enthusiasts of the cuisine and newcomers alike. The location is very easy to access for those visiting the Poconos and is a perfect way to end a day of family fun and adventure.
We had a chance to visit last weekend following our fun filled day at Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark. Upon arrival, we marveled at the exterior of the restaurant. It hinted at the inviting and attractive established decor, combining traditional Japanese elements with modern lights and sounds. The restaurant features a very unique and attractive ambience, which allows all customers to get comfortable and enjoy the location as well as the food. We were seated right away and our server was very attentive to our needs.
One of the things that I like about hibachi restaurants is that all of the food is prepared in front of you, allowing you to enjoy the opportunity to see the chef's cooking process. Our chef was very entertaining and had the whole table laughing.
The menu features a wide variety of hibachi and sushi options, including soups and noodles as well as rolls and sashimi selections, and there are several bar options that can be enjoyed. Z.E.N. was daring and tried a Japanese soda which he says was amazing.
One thing I found interesting though is the fact that they did not serve salad. At other hibachi restaurants we've eaten at, they usually serve soup and salad. Here, they served edamame and then soup. This was our first time eating edamame and boy was it yummy!
I ordered the jumbo scallops and chicken, hubby ordered a lobster and chicken combo and Z.E.N. ordered shrimp. Each meal came with sautéed veggies, fried rice and noodles. The food was very tasty and very filling. The portions were very generous. I wish I had a chance to take a photo of the actual food, but we dove in right away and by the time I realized, half of the food on my plate was gone. After dinner Z.E.N. wanted dessert, but we were presented with our check and were not offered a dessert menu, so I am not sure if they offer dessert.
We then had the opportunity to speak to the owner. We learned that Desaki is a family owned business and we were given a tour of the restaurant.
We even got to peek into the kitchen. One thing I can say about this restaurant is that it is very clean. It is also very spacious and has several rooms that can be used for parties and other private functions.
They also offer complimentary shuttle service to and from some of the hotels and resorts in the area so you can enjoy your dining experience without the stress and inconvenience of driving.
So, If you are looking for a unique dining experience in the Poconos mountains, it is highly recommended for you to visit Desaki and see what delicious meals await you. We loved the experience and hope that you will too!
