Glamping at the Sea Pirate Campground in NJ

I have heard that camping is a fun summer activity that is great for the whole family. Camping, however, is one activity that I have not been really interested in trying out, because, let’s face it, I’m a city girl and have no real desire in roughing it. My view of camping was recently changed though when I was invited to go camping a few weeks ago.  I did some research and learned that the amount of fun you have depends on the type of camping ground you choose. The ideal campground should have basic necessities, such as a toilet, flat surface for setting up the tent, a clean source of water for drinking, electricity and a large body of water to support a number of fun activities.

I get it when it comes to wanting some basic necessities, but I personally would like to enjoy the luxuries of modern life while sleeping under the stars. This type of camping is what is now known as glamorous camping, lux camping or glamping.

Fortunately, the campground that I was invited to visit, Sea Pirate Campground, is one of the many campgrounds in NJ with cabins.

Sea Pirate Campground

Sea Pirate Campground is located 30 minutes north of Atlantic City and the same distance south of Sea Side Heights. The campsite is also located eight miles from Long Beach Island, making it one of the most convenient campsites in the state.

Types of Accommodation

The Sea Pirate Campground offers different types of camping experiences to suit the unique needs of campers. The following are the four types of camping sites available at the campground:

We stayed in a deluxe cabin.  It was small, but perfect four or little family of 3. It can actually accommodate up to six people! It was very cozy and had a full kitchen with a gas stove, sink, refrigerator, microwave oven and pots and pans.

Family-Oriented Camping

Sea Pirate Campground is family owned and operated, so it's not surprising that the site is family-friendly. The management has invested heavily in the campground to ensure both kids and adults have all the fun they can. There are scheduled activities for kids, including; campground hay rides, crafts, ceramics and arts among others.

At the center of the campground sits a fully-stocked fishing pond. There are also canoes and kayaks for fishing and crabbing. The large pond and water vessels provide campers with a unique opportunity to learn how to fish and kayaking. The camp's fishing policy, however, is catch and release.

Sea Pirate Campground also has a camp store. While most campers usually carry everything they need to survive and have fun during the camping trip, some of the supplies may run out. Campers may also forget to carry some items. In such cases, campers can buy everything they need at the camp store. There is also a snack bar, a convenient option for campers who do not feel like cooking.

Another attraction near the campground is the Tuckerton Seaport, a museum as well as a working maritime village. We had the opportunity to visit one morning during our camping trip and really enjoyed it.  They had a lot of family friendly activities like miniature golf, a petting zoo and even had a lighthouse.

I am happy to say that our first camping, err, glamping experience was a great one that we will remember for years to come.
