How Your Family Can Sneak In Some Exercise While Traveling

Sneak In some Exercise While Traveling

I know firsthand that traveling can be a very fun way to spend more time with your family. When we travel, we are able to see new things together, taste new foods, enjoy new experiences, and bond as a family. However, it can be difficult to adhere to certain routines or scheduled activities like exercise when we travel. Luckily, I have found that there are there are many easy ways to sneak in some exercise when you travel.

One of the best ways to enjoy physical activity while traveling is by exploring the local area. Walking is one of the best forms of exercise. Joining a walking tour or going on a hike, or just walking around a new city is a great way to get some fitness in while enjoying the scenery.

Another enjoyable way to keep up with your physical activities is to see if there are any bicycle rental locations that you can enjoy as well. Getting the chance to bicycle together as a family is another great way to explore the local area while getting some physical fitness time in.

Going for a swim at a local lake, beach or pool is another idea. Swimming is super fun and is a great form of exercise. In fact, swimming can provide a total body workout that will allow you to burn around 500 calories an hour!

If you are interested in a more organized experience, be sure to check to see if your hotel has a fitness center. Some hotels feature a variety of weight lifting, aerobic, and other fitness equipment that you can use during your stay.

One hotel that we recently visited that had a great fitness center was Residence Inn. They had standard equipment that you would find in a regular gym like cardio equipment, free weights and treadmills. They also had a pool and a basketball court. Z.E.N. was really excited about the basketball court, but it was raining the day we stayed there.

Researching some of your options before you travel, will allow you to make great choices that will allow you and your family to maintain an exercise regimen while traveling
