Summer has finally arrived, and we are already feeling the heat! I may complain about the heat but I love summer. It’s my favorite season. I love the longer days and happiness that summer brings.
When I was a kid, I spent my summer vacations playing outside with neighborhood kids. I remember how great it felt to gulp down a cold, flavorful drink after being outside for hours. Like me, Z.E.N. loves to play outside.
With good summer fun must come a good summer drink. Z.E.N.’s favorite summer beverage is lemonade. It’s the perfect summer drink because it’s both refreshing and versatile. It is the ultimate drink to quench your thirst on a hot day. It’s also perfect for summer gatherings.
If your kids love lemonade as much as mine does, you have to try this recipe. It’s a great sparkling twist on traditional lemonade.
Orange Lemonade Twist Recipe
Ingredients
- COUNTRY TIME Lemonade or Pink Lemonade Flavor Drink Mix
- 2 cups cold water
- 2 cups cold orange juice
- 1 bottle (1 liter) cold ginger ale or club soda
- lemon slices
- fresh mint leaves
Directions
- Measure drink mix into cap just to 2-quart line.
- Place in large plastic or glass pitcher.
- Add water and orange juice; stir until drink mix is completely dissolved.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Stir in ginger ale just before serving.
- Serve over ice cubes in tall glasses.
- Garnish with lemon slices and mint sprigs
Lemonade tends to disappear really quickly around here. The best part about this lemonade is that it’s inexpensive to make! I make sure to stock up on the lemonade mix every time I stop in at Walmart.
