The Revolutionary 2017 Kia Sorento Crossover is Great For Families

This is a sponsored post.

A few months ago, my family and I went camping. If you’ve ever been camping, you know how much planning and prep work it can take. In my opinion, the hardest part about going camping is packing and unpacking all the gear you have to bring along with you. Since we had to pack so much stuff, we realized that we would need a bigger vehicle to haul all of our stuff.  Kia graciously loaned us a 2017 Kia Sorento for the week and we have nothing but good things to say about it. Here are some of our favorite Kia Sorento features:2017 kia sorento crossover vehicle

1. It’s roomy

A friend of mine who recently purchased the 2017 Kia Sorento once jokingly told me that if ever she had to load an elephant into the back seat, the Sorento would do so without twitching a muscle. A little exaggerated, but I understood what she was getting at. Packing it up with all of our camping gear which included a one hundred quart cooler was a breeze. If you need more room, the rear seats fold down to give you more cargo space.

Depending on the model and configuration you choose, you can get seating for either five or seven people. The model we had came with a third row of seats, which is perfect for kids and smaller adults. My son loved sitting in the third row! He also loved the fact that that he had his own set of air controls. The only downside though is when you’re using the third row of seats, you’ll have to sacrifice luggage space at the back.

2. It drives like a car

The handling and dynamics of the 2017 Sorento really left me impressed. The campground we visited was over 3 hours away.  The Sorento handled the road like a champ. In my opinion, it drives more like a car than an SUV. It rides smooth and has great zippy pickup on the highway.

3. It has high safety scores

The 2017 Kia Sorento was awarded a NHTSA Overall 5-Star Safety Rating and named a 2016 IIHS Top Safety Pick+.  It is made of 53% high-strength steel and includes advanced airbags and seatbelt systems to protect you and your family in the event of a crash. But the safety features don’t stop there. On the 2017 Kia Sorento, you’ll get a standard rearview camera, as well as available safety technology like a surround view monitor, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alerts, lane departure warnings, forward collision warnings, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.

4. There’s a 360-degree Surround View Monitor

The surround view monitor was one of my favorite features. I learned how to drive in New York City and consider myself a pretty good driver, but sometimes backing into tight spaces can be tricky. The surround view monitor lets you see the surroundings of the vehicle by using images from four cameras. This helped me to ease into and out of tight parking spots.

5. There are blind spot Indicators on the rearview mirrors

Another really great feature is the blind spot indicator.  The blind spot indicators are located on the side view mirrors.  They light up to alert you that there is a car in your blind spot. If you turn on the turn signal and there is a car in the blind spot, you will see a flashing light as well as an audible warning letting you know that it is not safe to change lanes.

6. It has a great warranty

Kia has one of the better warranty covers which is hard to complain about. Kia provides a 5-year/60,000 mile limited basic warranty and a 10-year/100,000 mile limited powertrain warranty. They even throw in a 5 year/60,000 mile roadside assistance offer to protect you and your family.

All in all, the new 2017 Kia Sorento has many innovative features. It is truly one of the best crossover vehicles for families. We really enjoyed driving it. We are in the market for a new vehicle and we are strongly considering buying one.
