Tips for Going Off The Beaten Path When Traveling

Have you ever considered going off the beaten path when you travel? “Going off the beaten path” can mean different things to different people. For my family, it’s simply escaping the crowds and exploring spots that are somewhat less touristy. This doesn’t mean that we skip the tried-and-true tourist stops, it just means that we make an effort to find more less-known attractions than you’d find in most travel guides.

On a recent trip to the Cancun area, we ventured off on our own to visit the tallest Mayan pyramid one on the Yucatan Peninsula, and it was quite an adventure. This was just one of the many activities we did that were less touristy and not within our local resort.
