Do you buy frozen fruits? There has been a long standing debate over whether or not frozen fruits are as healthy and tasty as the “fresh” options found in the local produce department. The truth is that they have a lengthy list of benefits and Welch's Frozen Fruits are the perfect example. You can save $1 off on Welch’s when you click here. You will definitely notice the Welch's difference while reaping the rewards of these frozen fruit choices.

Frozen fruits are packed with nutrients, more so than those sitting out on the shelves. This is due to the “flash” process that freezes the fruits at peak ripeness, before they can start to lose some vital nutrients. They are processed immediately after harvest. “Fresh” fruit can lose nutritional value during travel time; this is the time it takes to be delivered to grocery stores after harvesting. This process can sometimes take up to two weeks. Each day, beneficial components can decrease in value.

I love the convenience of frozen fruits. They can be purchased and used during any time of the year, even when certain fruits are normally out of season. They are already washed, chopped and ready to eat. This eliminates the timely prep work needed before using them.  I always keep some stored in my freezer so I can just pull them out of the freezer and pop them into the blender for a smoothie or into a recipe.

Speaking of recipes, I used Welch’s Antioxidant Fruit Blend to make a warm mixed berry compote.

Here’s the recipe:

Ingredients:

Pour the frozen berries into a saucepan and bring to a medium heat. Sprinkle the sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and ginger over the berries and stir. Lower heat and cook the mixture down until it reaches a sauce like consistency. Remove from heat and serve drizzled over ice cream, cake, waffles, pancakes, muffins and more. This can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a few days.

Welch's Frozen Fruits should be a part of any healthy, balanced diet. Their blends are full of intense color and flavor, while being packed with vitamins and fiber. Their fruits are plucked at the peak of their freshness and are individually quick frozen to preserve their natural sweetness and ripeness. Because of this, they taste as if they were just picked. I noticed while shopping at my local Shoprite supermarket that Welch’s has a few different varieties available including Blueberry Fusion, Tropical Blend and Antioxidant Blend.

Welchs Frozen Fruits

Welch's Blueberry Fusion consists of blueberries, mangoes, black currant and dark sweet cherries. These fruits are preserved with their natural ripeness and sweetness. At only 99 calories per cup, this blend is truly a “guilt free” selection. It is rich in vitamin C and a source of fiber. Welch's Tropical Blend packs the same benefits but includes a more tropical variety of fruits such as pineapple, mangoes and raspberries. With all fruits sourced in the USA, Welch's Antioxidant Blend provides an option overflowing with health boosting antioxidants such as anthocyanin. A variety of berries including strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and cherries make this a mouthwatering treat! Don’t you want to try them all?
