The New 2013 Hess Truck

One of our holiday traditions is waiting with baited breath to see the new Hess toy truck set. A tradition in many parts of the U.S., these trucks change each year and always offer a great play experience along with their collectability. Z.E.N. absolutely loves Hess Trucks. I love them too because they are quite durable. We have quite a few of them so couldn't wait to see what they came up with this year.

Z.E.N.'s Hess Trucks and cars

This year's 2013 Hess Toy Truck and Tractor set is no different and certainly did not disappoint, incorporating not only a fully working second vehicle but also an innovative new phone app that is sure to bring extra value to play time. If you have ever collected Hess trucks in the past, you will be pleasantly surprised by all of the new changes in this year's model.

The white and green color scheme is classic Hess, and the vehicle itself is built to exacting standards. As usual, the truck itself is quite sturdy and hard to break – a great benefit to collectors who are worried about their trucks being damaged when younger family members come around to visit. The truck set definitely lives up to the promise of the vehicles created in years past.

This year also sees a pack-in addition with the Hess Toy Tractor and the Hess Tractor Trek app. The tractor itself is a lovely self-propelled model, made of the same materials as the truck itself and featuring two buckets, fifteen lights and even motorized movement.

For those looking to add something a little more technological to the package, the new Tractor Trek app provides a fun game for iOS and Android devices that will allow players to compete with friends during the holiday season. The app also features special bonuses that are activated when the real-life Toy Truck's horn is honked, so those who buy the set get a unique treat in the game.

As always, the 2013 Hess Toy Truck and Tractor represents one of the more classic sturdy toys for children and collectors alike. The new app is a great feature for the young, while the look of both of the vehicle pieces is great for a collector of any age. Whether you are a new collector or you have been buying Hess trucks for years, nothing quite beats the 2013 Hess Toy Truck and Tractor for your holiday needs. After all, nothing quite says Christmas like a Hess Truck.

Z.E.N. will truly be excited to find this under the tree on Christmas morning!

  • The boys in our family would go CRAZY over these trucks.

Really digging the non-traditional green color. We’re used to bright red trucks strewn throughout their toy rooms.

    • The background behind the colors – the owner of Hess was also the owner of the NY Jets, hence the green and white color.

  • Ahhhhh it’s the Hess Truck.. we all know it’s not Christmas without it.. I love the commercial every year and it;s a tradition in our home to get this for the kids every year, they are teenagers now and still love it

    • That’s so cool that they still love them as teenagers. I’m hoping my son will still love them when he becomes a teen as well.

  • My uncle was a trucker for many years. He would love to add this to his collection. I will have to let him know to keep an eye out for it.

  • Growing up I remember my step-brothers were always excited to see the new Hess truck, they came our with some pretty cool ones over the years!

  • My son has a collection of Hess trucks. My dad started buying them every year for my son when he was little. My dad passed away four years ago, but I kept buying them for my son. He continues to love them.

  • This brings back memories. I remember my grandparents bringing my brother a new Hess truck for Christmas every year.

  • LOL…our daughter says “I want that!” every time she sees the Hess truck commercial on TV. I’ve been on the fence about getting one for her (she says “I want that!” about every toy commercial she sees), but after seeing your entry, I think I might see if Santa can bring her one for Christmas.

    • They’re really cool Shanna! And I can’t stress the sturdy aspect enough. My boy is rough on his toys but the Hess trucks barely have any scratches on them. They hold up very well!

  • I have a ten year old in the family that would go crazy for these trucks. He loves to play with stuff like this.

  • I had never heard of these trucks before seeing this post! I love the look and variety that they offer. Great color scheme too…

  • I only have girls – so we don’t have many (if any!) toy trucks – but those look awesome! I like that they’re so realistic, not too childish.

    • LoL! I have 2 sisters and growing up, my middle sister always asked for trucks and cars. To this day she still loves cars!

  • Oh my gosh! My dad used to collect the Hess trucks! He died many years ago and I had forgotten about these. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.

  • Your collection looks like mine. We get the new truck every year and my girls will play with them for hours

  • This is such a great gift idea for the holidays! Thanks for the idea!

  • Boy these bring back memories! I never got them, but my brother always did. I think he still has every one and he’s 30 now!

  • My three year old would love this. His grandparents gave him a Hess truck last year, and he has been a big fan.
