Life can be crazy. Some days I feel like I am constantly running around, trying to accomplish everything on my to-do list. With everything on my plate, I know I am ‘trying to have it all.’ I am a mother, wife, blogger, and business woman. But I do not simply want to be those things; I want to excel at all of them. I want to be the best mother I can be to my son, the best wife to my husband, and a successful business woman.
I have to be honest, though, some days life just gets in the way. Some nights I am just too tired to read Z.E.N. a bed time story. Other days all I want to do is sleep for the entire day (yeah, I wish!). But those are the days that I am able to look around and truly be grateful for everything in my life.
Since starting this journey, I have learned many things. I love to share tips with other moms and read up on how to maintain balance. I’ve even garnered some good tips from reality TV (not all reality TV shows are bad!). Some of the greatest lessons I have learned are how to maintain and enjoy a balanced life. It’s not always easy though. The greatest tip I can give anyone with a busy schedule like mine is to set aside time to spend with your family. No matter what, do not give that up. Work will always be there when you return but I will never be able to get back the time spent with my son and husband. I treasure the little moments I am able to steal with them. I know when I look back on my life those are the moments I will remember.
Another tip I can give is that it is OK to not get everything done. For someone like me, this lesson took a long time to learn. I want to accomplish everything NOW. But there are some days that it just is not possible. And that is alright. Learning to let things go and pick them up tomorrow is a hard lesson to learn but so worthwhile. Don’t lose time with your family or lose sleep thinking about what you didn’t get done. I promise it will be there tomorrow.
The last tip I can give you is to live in the moment. Sure life is hectic and overwhelming at times. But when I take a moment to slow down and think about my life, I find myself so thankful. I am so lucky to be able to be this busy and do what I love. And at the end of the day I am able to come home and enjoy time with my two men. How lucky am I?
What about you? How do you balance everything in your life? Do you have any other tips to share?
