A few years ago, we visited Lancaster County, in Pennsylvania. We had so much fun that we decided to go back again this year.
Lancaster County is famous for being the home of the Amish, but there are many other activities and sights to see as well. The Lancaster Visitors Center sent us a few passes to check out some of these other attractions in Lancaster while we were visiting.
Where to Stay When Visiting Lancaster
This time around, we stayed at the Bird-in-Hand Family Inn located in Bird-in-Hand, PA. We had an amazing stay. Our room was spacious and very clean.
The hotel was also very quiet at night. On our first night there, the hotel had an ice cream social. We all love ice cream so this was right up our alley! 
The hotel is close to many local area attractions. They offer complimentary farm tours, a game room, picnic pavilion and playground, lighted tennis courts, mini golf, outdoor and indoor pools, a hot tub and fitness room. They also have a playground, and several tennis and basketball courts.
Z.E.N. was happy to see the basketball courts and couldn't wait to get out there to play some ball. When he came back to the room, he mentioned that he saw some hot air balloons taking off. Man, I would have loved to see that!
They also have a restaurant on site located right next door to the inn. We had breakfast there twice. The food was absolutely delicious!
What to do In Lancaster
Here are some of the things you must do when you visit Lancaster PA:
1. Visit Cherry Crest Adventure Farm
There is no way that your family adventure in Lancaster could be complete without visiting Cherry Crest Adventure Farm. This is one of our favorite places to visit. Cherry Crest Adventure Farm offers 15 acres of good, clean, interactive family fun and includes over 50 amazing activities!
There is honestly so much to do that even if you spend the whole day there, you will never get bored! There are activities for children and adults of all ages.
They also have an amazing corn maze which was voted one of the top 10 corn mazes in America!
2. Take a trip to the North Museum of Nature and Science
The North Museum of Nature and Science is located on the campus of Franklin and Marshall College.
The museum is small, but there is still lots of fun to be had there. The exhibit on the main floor featured live animals and lots of hands-on activities. The basement level houses a permanent exhibit featuring cases of stuffed birds along with a rock and fossil collection.
The museum also has a great planetarium.
3. Pay a Visit to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania
The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is located in Strasburg. It is located across the street from the historic Strasburg Railroad. It features a collection of more than 100 cars and locomotives from the mid-19th and 20th centuries. Every piece of equipment under its roof and in the outdoor rail yard was made or operated in Pennsylvania. We really enjoyed learning about the impact the railroad system had on the growth of this country.
This was our first time dining at Miller's Smorgasbord and we were very pleased.
