Woodloch Pines Resort: An All Inclusive Family Resort

The lake at Woodloch Pines Resort

If you are looking to get away on a romantic vacation for two or for an adventurous get-a-way with the whole family, you should consider Woodloch Pines Resort. Woodloch Pines is an all-inclusive family resort located in the Poconos. It is a great way to get away from it all and spend time in a beautiful setting with plenty of things to do to fill your day. We went at the end of Z.E.N.’s spring break and absolutely loved it there. Z.E.N. loved it so much, he didn’t want to leave.

Accommodations at Woodloch Pines

We stayed for 2 nights at Springbrook #2 in a mini-suite overlooking the lake. I was surprised at how spacious the suite was. It featured a separate bedroom, 2 bathrooms and a private balcony. It is connected to the pool complex, and is central to pretty much everything on the property. You can walk to many of the main areas from Springbrook, but the resort also has a shuttle service that makes a loop throughout the property every 10 minutes or so.

Dining at Woodloch

Because this resort is all inclusive, the meals are included in your package. You can enjoy two to three, family style meals a day.  You are assigned a table that is your dining spot for your entire stay.  For lunch and dinner there is a menu from which to choose your appetizers and entrees. There is also a kids’ menu. All of the sides are served family style. There was no menu at breakfast but there were several different options to choose from like eggs, bacon, oatmeal, etc… At breakfast, you could also ask for a boxed lunch if you think you’ll be too busy and will miss lunch.

At just about every meal, we were greeted by the owners upon entering the main dinning room.  They were very friendly! The owners also came around to each table to greet each family and to make sure everything was ok.  They were also very hands on.  I saw them pitching in on several occasions clearing tables and helping out where needed.

The food was excellent in my opinion.  The drinks form the bar were yummy and so was the dessert! The servers were also very friendly and accommodating. When Z.E.N. couldn’t decide between two of the meals being offered, the server indicated that they could bring a little bit of both out for him so that he wouldn’t have to choose.

The character night in the dining room on Saturday night was awesome. The resort requests that you dress up on character nights. I hate when resorts ask you to do this because quite frankly, I’m here to just relax and don’t really want to get all dressed up.  It was fine though.  We made the best of it and complied.  Z.E.N. really enjoyed the parade of characters and got the chance to take a picture with one of his favorites – SpongeBob!

Regardless of age, there are activities for everyone in your party at Woodloch. Every morning a new activity sheet is distributed at breakfast so that you can map out your day.  There are over 30 activities scheduled each day.  Some of the activities like the Go-Carts, Bumper Boats, Bumper Cars and Indoor Forest Playground, are open pretty much all day.  The gym is pretty much open all day as well.  Z.E.N. spent a lot of time there and Philip and I found ourselves playing along with him!

The indoor pool complex is also very nice. There is a kiddie splash area, that Philip and Z.E.N. really liked primarily because the water was much warmer there than in the bigger pool. There is also a really cool looking slide which we somehow missed. We just happened to stumble upon it the morning we were scheduled to leave. No biggie, that will be one of the first things we check out next time we’re here!

If you are visiting during the winter, you can go tubing, sledding, and ice skating. There are also lots of contests going on throughout the resort.  We really enjoyed the Adverteasing Contest. We joined up with two other families to form a team and had a great time trying to come up with answers to the trivia questions. Every evening there is some form of entertainment offered ranging from a Broadway Style theme show, live music, comedy acts, jugglers, and magicians. They also feature a few movies every night.

There are also several things to do away from the resort, including fishing, boating, hiking, skiing, and horseback riding. If you are an avid golfer, the resort has an 18 hole, championship, par-7 golf course. It was recognized as “One of the Best Places to Play”, by Golf Magazine. It was also given 4.5 stars by Golf Digest’s Best Places to Play.

Just two miles down the road is a full service, adults only spa. You can enjoy a variety of spa treatments for singles and couples. I didn’t have time to visit the spa this time around but I plan visiting when I return.

If you are looking for the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, you should consider a visit to Woodloch Pines Resort.  It’s a great place to really connect with your family. My family really enjoyed our stay at Woodloch, and definitely want to come back.
