A Look At The Acer Iconia Tab 8

I am no stranger to tablet computers and have used an iPad for years, but for some reason I had never had the opportunity to try out an android tablet. I was curious to to learn more about them and see if I could easily adapt to a tablet that was not running ios and was so grateful that Intel partnered with me and sent me a tablet to review.

Acer Iconia Tab 8 Intel tablet

The Acer Iconia is an 8-inch tablet that runs on the Android 4.4 OS. According to the manufacturer, the screen has a resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels, which means it delivers crisp, sharp images. It also comes with the latest “Bay Trail” Atom Processor (quad-core Z3745) from Intel. This tablet is 8.5mm thick and only weighs 360 grams. Other features include 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage space, and additional microSD card slot. I’m not going to get too technical and instead want to focus on some of the ways you can use this tablet.

7 Ways you can use the Acer Iconia Tab 8 tablet

You can use this tablet to perform a wide range of tasks and activities including:

Use it as a second screen

If you need a second screen, the Acer Iconia will come in handy. For example, forex and stock traders usually require multiple screens to monitor various indicators or timeframes. Instead of spending money to buy an extra monitor, you can use the tablet for this purpose. According to tests carried out by PCWorld, Internet browsing on this tablet is very smooth. In addition, applications and games run very fast, which means you can run apps without worrying about performance issues.

Use it as an e-reader

Instead of buying a standalone e-reader, you can use your Acer Iconia as one. All you have to do is download the relevant apps from marketplaces such as Google Play and start reading.

Use it to watch movies and TV shows

The Acer Iconia tablet has the processing and computational power required to watch TV shows and movies. When fully charged, the battery will last for 7.5 hours when watching videos at 720p. The dual speakers at the rear bottom of the tablet are audible enough when put on full volume.

Use is as a DSLR assistant

Instead of buying expensive DSLR assistant software, use the Acer Iconia Tab 8 for this purpose. However, you will have to download an app that functions as a DSLR assistant. The good news is that Google’s marketplaces has tons of apps that you can use to control a DSLR camera.

Use it for gaming

Many people have grown up playing games on desktop PCs. The good news is you do not require a desktop PC or laptop to play your favorite game anymore. Since this tablet’s screen has an impressive resolution (1920 × 1200), Zero Air Gap technology that provides brighter and crisper images, as well as wide viewing angle, you can use it to play games with 3D graphics. It is also incredibly easy to hold, which translates to a great gaming experience.

Use it for navigation and in-car entertainment

If you have an Acer Iconia tablet, you do not have to buy and install an expensive navigation system in your car. Moreover, you can use the same tablet for in-car entertainment purposes. This is much better than relying on built-in car navigation and entertainment systems that may be unwieldy and difficult to use.

Use it as a remote control

You can turn your Acer Iconia tablet into a universal remote control. Provided you have the right app installed, you can use it to control the TV, computer, fridge, and even lights.

Final word

I found the Acer Iconia Tab 8 tablet to be very impressive.  Although I was used to the ios operating system, I found that android was very easy to use. I love the fact that it is very compact, and that it could do everything I needed to do like check emails, surf the web, take photos, participate in Google hangouts, etc… Z.E.N. loved playing video games on it and getting him off of the tablet was difficult at times.  I must admit that I was definitely an Apple fan girl, but If I was in the market for a new tablet, I would definitely consider buying an Intel Tablet
