There is a lot of competition when you’re selling your home. The best way to get a sale is to price your home right. However, it’s also important to make your house seem as appealing as possible. This is accomplished by improving both the interior and the exterior of your home. In fact, the exterior might be even more important. If a potential buyer doesn’t think your home has curb appeal, the person may not even want to take a look inside your home.

If you have the budget, you can hire a home staging expert. These professionals visit your home, look it over, and offer suggestion and advice on how to improve the look of your home to entice more prospective buyers. Home staging involves making changes to both the interior and exterior of a house.

Another way to make your home more attractive to buyers is to redo the siding. My neighbors recently did this.  Seeing their results has us wanting to re-do our siding as well, so we’ve been looking into it. There are several materials used for siding, but fiber cement siding offers many advantages over other materials. One well-known manufacturer is James Hardie. The company makes fiber cement siding that is long lasting, fire resistant, and resists mold.

Their ColorPlus® Technology offers pre-painted fiber cement siding. Another option is to have the siding professionally painted using the extensive siding color palette.  The James Hardie Home Color Tool helps you to find a great combination of colors for the exterior of your home.  Using the right combination of colors can really make your house stand out.

The colors are gorgeous!  I really like the blues and the grey and can see my home in one of these colors. I also love the fact that this siding comes with a 15-year warranty against peeling, cracking and chipping for peace of mind.

Another way to boost curb appeal and to make your home more  inviting is to clean up the front yard, backyard and garage by removing debris, junk or other clutter. You want the exterior to look neat and tidy. It’s also a good idea to politely ask your neighbors to also clean up their front and back yards. Having neighbors with attractive lawns helps you sell your home. Mowing the lawn also helps. Landscaping is a big part of making the exterior of your home look good. You could hire a landscape architect to add shrubs or flower pots to the yard.

It’s difficult to sell a home in any housing market, so you need to do all you can to boost curb appeal and attract buyers.

  • These are really great tips to boost curb appeal. I am thinking about putting my house on the market soon and I want my house to look really nice. I think I will take your advice and redo the outdated siding and make my yard look more presentable. Thank you for the help!

  • Siding replacement are certainly important for home repairs. Having professionals attend to such concerns assures you proper fix and good quality repairs.

  • I love those really light swatches on the siding collage. Light Mist would probably be my pick if we could change the siding on our home. I also really like Evening Blue!

  • There are the cutest houses on the other side of my street that have colonial blue and brick red siding, respectively. They both have white trim and stonework accents, and they are the most darling houses in our neighborhood! I actually have never considered changing the siding on our home, but after reading this and thinking about my neighbors, I definitely see the advantages. I’ll have to look into the costs and see if we can put it into our renovation budget. It might even make me not want to move!

  • I really liked theses tips to help boost your home’s curb appeal! My wife and I are going to be selling our house soon, and we want to make sure that it looks as good as possible before the big day arrives! One of things you mentioned that I hadn’t thought of trying before is to add shrubs or flower pots to our yard. We’re currently having a vinyl fence installed by a landscaping contractor, so I’ll ask him if he could plant a few shrubs in our yard once he finishes. I know that this will make our home look great! Thank you for the tips!
