In my last post about Duane Reade, I mentioned that Duane Reade had reached an incredible milestone of surpassing 1 million Twitter followers. To celebrate this milestone, I headed out to an invitation only party at Duane Reade’s flagship store located at 40 Wall Street, NYC. And what a party it was!
There was a DJ.
There was lots of Food.
And of course, there were lots of social media influencers in the the house!
Mid-way during the event, we heard from Duane Reade’s digital communications manager Calvin Peters. Calvin stated that “This social milestone is all about our customers and represents the ability and focus we have to seamlessly reach them whenever and wherever they are with useful content they crave and now have come to expect via effective two-way communications.”
Next up we heard from Chris Riedy who is a senior sales manager at Twitter. Riedy mentioned that there were three elements that went into growing Duane Reade’s Twitter base. He stated that “they had an outstanding team…the team was able to put in place an authentic voice…and the team understood how to leverage the Twitter ad platform.”
Finally we heard from Deepika Pandey, the vice president of digital marketing and customer experience for Walgreens. Deepika stated “we are extremely proud of these achievements, as they are reflection of Duane Reade as an iconic New York City retailer, our amazing omnichannel customers and engaged social media community.”
After the speeches, there was a live Twitter party! It was amazing seeing all the tweets fly across the big screen screen.
I have to say it was a great party! I had a chance to catch up with some of my fellow Duane Reade VIP bloggers, Duane Reade executives and Collective Bias colleagues.
I think a good time was had by all!
