Quick and Easy Breakfast ideas

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. After an entire night without any food, your body needs a healthy and nourishing breakfast to replenish it and give it the energy it needs for the long day ahead. It is crucial that people not minimize the importance of breakfast.

Yet in this busy world, it can sometimes be difficult to fit a proper breakfast into that small slot of time between waking up and getting out the door to start your day. There are a host of things people must do before they leave the house for work. Get dressed, clean the house etc. And if you are a mother then you likely will need to get your children up and ready for school. Many people are tempted to grab a quick bite of whatever is most readily available or to make do with a cup of coffee. But this kind of breakfast is not only inadequate it is unhealthy too.

There are many quick breakfast ideas that are easy to make and provide your body with the nourishment it needs. Granola or muesli is one quick item that is loaded with the vitamins your body craves. This power packed cereal is laden with dried fruits, nuts, raisins and oats and requires no cooking. You just pour a serving into a bowl, top it with milk and voila! This is something the kids can also enjoy.

Another healthy and filling idea is yogurt shakes and smoothies. Yogurt is rich in protein and calcium. Mix this with some fresh fruits and you have yourself a quick and easy breakfast. These shakes can even be made the night before and refrigerated so they take no time at all out of your busy morning. An energy bar and a cup of yogurt can also make a great breakfast.

There are also a host of quick breakfast ideas that use bread. A few slices of toast or a few instant waffles topped with peanut butter or cream cheese are quick and easy to assemble and will give your body plenty of fiber and protein. There are also a variety of baked goods such as muffins, croissants, bread etc. that can be made or bought before hand and warmed up in the oven for a tasty breakfast.

Do you prefer hot breakfast options? Instant oats offer another good solution for those who prefer their breakfasts hot.  You can even pop some ham, cheese, salami or pepperoni slices onto your toast to add flavor and substance. Or you can make an omelet or egg sandwich. Pita bread topped with cream cheese and sprouts is a refreshing way to start your day.

  • This is a great post, Diane, and so true. It is all too easy to make the wrong food choices. Personally I’m a Scots Porridge eater in the winter, and either muesli with warm water or yogurt with dried fruit and nuts in the summer. Starts the day off right and the slow release of energy keeps me going til lunchtime. Thanks for sharing.

    • I’ve never tried porridge. It sounds like a good healthy breakfast option.

  • Sausage and cheese! Yummy! Sausage is my favorite breakfast meat…it’s always my first choice.

  • Would love to try the Sausage and Cheese Biscuit! Looks sooo good.

  • Breakfast is one of my favorite meals, but it is really easy to make unhealthy (but tasty) choices. At least two times a week I eat oatmeal in the morning. Turns out lowly Oatmeal is one of those wonder foods! It’s high in fiber and provides long term energy for the day. Even better, research suggests it can lower blood pressure and is good for cardiovascular health. Dress it up with *blueberries* and you have a SUPER wonder food to start your day. This simple step might add years to your life! =)
