Going Green Is Easy With Products From The Honest Company

Increasingly, studies show us that constant use of strong artificial chemicals can lead to complications like skin sensitivity and allergies and can even lead to more serious ailments such as cancer. Because of this, I try to shop for products that are as natural as possible, without complex petroleum-based compounds that are hard for the body to process.

Working on being green is not easy though. Busy families often just don’t have the time or budget to incorporate natural and eco-friendly products into their daily routine. This is because, until recently, the best products were only available at specialty stores at a premium. I don’t know about you. but price is an issue for me. If a product is too pricey, I’m not buying it.

The good news is that consumer demand is finally causing a better spectrum of eco-friendly and natural skin and hair products to appear on supermarket and drugstore shelves. Lately, I’ve been seeing a whole lot of high quality products at lower prices popping up online and at the stores where we already shop.

A great product line I recently discovered Jessica Alba’s The Honest Company. I used to watch Jessica Alba when she was on the show Dark Angel.  I was surprised to learn that she had ventured into this type of business, but learned that she has a passion for eco-friendly products. In addition to being sustainable, Honest products are packaged in bright fun colors.  I received a sampling of their “Family Essentials” bundle which included a bottle of Honest laundry detergent, honest shampoo and body wash, honest healing balm, honest face and body lotion and honest hand soap.  Z.E.N. showing off the Honest Company set that we received.

Z.E.N. was excited to try out the products and has been using the hand soap.  It has a nice scent of lemongrass. He says it’s his own personal hand soap!

We also tried out the face and body lotion.  While it works well and does seem to soak into the skin, it’s supposed to be fragrance free and I find that it does have a pretty strong scent. Nevertheless, I am happy with the products overall because they are so pure and free of toxic chemicals. As I continue on my quest of living a greener lifestyle, I am happy to have found another great brand.

The Honest Company was started by a mom and a dad who, like many modern parents, were increasingly worried about products made with questionable chemical ingredients. But the alternatives they found were often expensive, inaccessible, bland, or ineffective. In response to this clear need for something better, they created The Honest Company to ensure that parents (or anyone for that matter!) could easily find natural and non-toxic eco-friendly products that are beautiful, effective, and affordable. From customized product bundles to diapers and wipes to an ever-expanding line of cleaning and personal care products, you can find everything you need at Honest.com and have it delivered directly to your front door.

  • I’ve been a customer of the Honest Company for several months. I like their products overall. There are some that still need work, but I give them feedback and they are very receptive. Their customer service is also top notch!

    • Good to hear that they are listening to their customers. I should contact them about the face and body lotion. It says it’s fragrance free but it’s clearly not.
