I’m always looking for more  and more ways to save money.  Being able to save money means I can deposit more money into my bank account and use that money towards the things I really enjoy, like traveling!  I have found that one of the easiest places to start saving more money is by making small changes that can lower your energy bill. Here are some tips to help get you saving.

1.     If you own your home, you should replace old windows with energy efficient windows. These windows provide better insulation so the temperature in your home remains more constant. Warm air will not escape in winter and hot air will not enter in the summer. If replacing windows is not in the budget, you can still save by insulating your windows.

2.     A programmable thermostat is another way you can lower your energy costs. When you use a programmable thermostat, you can set your desired temperature and it will automatically lower or raise the temperature to an optimal energy efficient setting depending on the season.

3.     By lowering the temperature several degrees, you can still be comfortable at home, but also save money on energy bills.

4.     Turn off the lights in any room that is not occupied. If you have trouble remembering to turn off lights, you can install a motion-sensing light switch. When you enter a room, the motion sensor will detect movement and the lights will turn on.  Similarly, when you leave the room, the light will shut off once it stops detecting motion.

5.     Installing energy efficient lighting is also a good choice. Compact fluorescent and LED bulbs are way more efficient than standard incandescent bulbs.  They also last longer.

6.     When using the dishwasher, only it use when you have a full load of dishes. This saves both water and energy. Another way to save energy is by letting the dishes air dry or drying them with a dish towel.

7.     When washing clothes, only use a full load to conserve water and energy.

8.     Have you had your current washer and dryer for 10 years or more? Then you should definitely think about replacing them. When it is time to replace an old washing machine and dryer, you should replace them with energy and water efficient appliances that are ENERGY STAR certified.

Washers that are ENERGY STAR certified tend to use less energy which in turn can can save you around $40 a year on your utility bills compared to a standard model. They also use less water so you can save on your water bill as well.

ENERGY STAR dryers also use less energy than standard models.  These dryers also use have sensors in addition to timed drying. These sensors sense moisture and will automatically shut off when clothes are dry.

When it comes to energy efficient washers and dryer, the LG Twin Wash and Sidekick Laundry Pair, available at Best Buy, certainly fits the bill!  The LG Twin Wash and Sidekick Laundry Pair is energey efficient and can help lower your energy billThis washer has a combined capacity of up to 6.6 cu. ft. and has an ergonomically elevated and angled door that makes loading and unloading easier. The way that the lid is designed helps prevent spills thanks to an easy-to-fill detergent tray . I welcome features like this that make doing laundry easier! Another feature I really like about this washer is the fact that it lets you do two loads at once. It also has a TurboWash feature which can save up to 30 minutes on larger loads.  Also, clothes come out cleaner thanks to it’s turbo steam feature which penetrates fabrics to get them really clean.

The Sidekick can be paired up with most LG Front load washer. It’s a great addition and allows you to wash a smaller load without having to run the main washer. It’s also a great way to wash delicates or hand washable items. if you have a lot of laundry in your basket, you can also tackle two loads at the same time by running the LG Twin Wash and Sidekick at the same time.

The design is cool as well.  It’s vey discreet and has a concealed panel and pretty much acts as a pedestal that raises your front-loading washer to a height that is more comfortable.
